I began my love affair with tea and herbs while living in England with my family about 25 years ago. Living in a small village, afternoon tea with other Mums in the close after walking to fetch our children from school became a common event and although I grew up drinking tea, it took on a completely new dimension. In addition, our temporary home included an herb garden and I just had to learn what to do with them! Upon returning to the United States, my initial fascination with herbs continued as I planted my own herb gardens and then added herbs to the plants available from the nursery business that I owned and operated from 1994 to 2005. After purchasing a tea business from a friend, I became fascinated with blending herbal teas or tisanes. Starting with the tea recipes I received with the business, I began experimenting myself, including my new favorites - Rooibos and Honeybush - as a base for all of my tisane blends. The rest is, as they say, history. I am now a certified tea specialist and continue to have a growing passion for everything herbal. The Herbal Gourmet specializes in not only organic gourmet products including teas, tisanes and herbs but also information about tea & tisanes, culinary herbs and gourmet gardening through the use of three “Sample of the Month” clubs with newsletters including lots of recipes, harvest ideas, trivia or tips. I also host classes in my home and provide group presentations in the local area including tea tastings, demonstrations on the use of herbs and the basics of the herb garden. These allow me to share my herbal knowledge plus my passion for tea, cooking and gardening. They also fulfill my goal to be a source of information on the use of the herbs, including tea, that God has provided in our world plus to create the same atmosphere for developing friendships I encountered so long ago in England with the tasting of my specialty products.
