Dean and Nanella Alexander began their venture into the popcorn world in 1979 at the time of then Lt. Col. Dean Alexanders retirement from the United States Air Force. They purchased a gourmet popcorn franchise in a mall and over the next several years bought and sold several retail locations. This allowed them to plan a lifestyle allowing them to work together along with the three of their five children still living at home. Over the next several years they received a number of awards, including the National Sales Award for 1980. Dean pursued the local businesses and developed a large number of customers purchasing canisters for clients and associates. Nans artistic touches in personalizing canisters provided unique designs available only through their store. Additional accounts came from some pharmaceutical companies using the canisters for their customers.
