Bloods Hammock Groves was founded in 1949 by Carolyn and Norman Blood. Their hard work along with the assistance and experience of Mr. and Mrs. Blood, Sr. started a south Florida tradition that has been operated by the Blood family ever since. The fourth generation of the Blood family continues to work full time in the business. Much effort has been devoted for more than half a century to growing Floridas Most Pampered Fruit. Growing the best fruit takes skills learned over many years of hard work - and a little help from Mother Nature too! Today we grow many varieties of Oranges, Tangerines and Grapefruit on 415 acres of citrus groves located in Indiantown as well as Fort Pierce. Each variety is unique and comes in many different shapes, flavors and sizes. Mother Nature determines the size of the fruit, which varies naturally from variety to variety. In fact size can vary from season to season and sometimes even from branch to branch on the same tree. We are committed to the tradition of providing the best fruit that can be grown. As each variety comes into season our fruit is picked by hand -- tree by tree. All fruit is washed, rinsed, polished and dried before being placed out for sale or shipping. In our packing house, where each package is filled to order, every orange, tangerine or grapefruit is carefully inspected before being packaged and shipped. We use Federal Express Ground as our standard delivery service to assure quick delivery of our citrus. Citrus does not ripen after it has been picked. Early in the season a greenish tint is not unusual. So, dont wait for a color change to eat your fruit! Cooler weather causes the peel color to naturally turn orange or yellow, and if the Fall has been warm the fruit will keep its greenish tint. All of our fruit is shipped with an unconditional guarantee. Once received, oranges, tangerines and grapefruit will last much longer, remain firm and stay better looking when stored in the refrigerator.
