In 1981 Lynne & Trevor Bennett emigrated from County Down, Ireland, to Vancouver Island on Canadas west coast and within a couple of years opened OBeans, a restaurant with a friendly Irish theme, in Victoria. Apart from its Irish musical evenings, OBeans is well known for both its stews, now available in local supermarket freezers (Irish Lamb Stew & Beef in Guinness Stew), and its Irish soda breads.
