Remember when the corner store was a treasure chest of all your favorite childhood treats. When we established The Big Sweet in the summer of 1998 it was our hope to recreate the little sweet shop at the bottom of the street. Both Paul and Maureen grew up with strong ties to England and Ireland, the home of the best little sweet shops anywhere, at least we think so. The store consequently has one of the largest and best selections of British sweets to be found. Over the years the store has grown from a traditional sweet shop to be more of what we think of as a memory store. Full of nostalgia items, such as Gumby, Betty Boop, Elvis, James Bond. We remember when we grew up, all these things were just a part of our lives. For the kids of today we create new memories. Its amazing to see the 14 year old who comes in and picks up a parachute man and says, I remember when I use to play with these as a kid. Remembering the past and creating memories for today: The Big Sweet is just not candy.
